COMCEC Capital Market Regulators Forum

The COMCEC Capital Market Regulators Forum was initiated in 2011 – following the decision made by the 25th Session of the COMCEC which called on OIC member states and relevant OIC institutions to set up a cooperation framework among the OIC capital market regulatory authorities.

To that end, the COMCEC Capital Markets Regulatory Authorities Conference and Roundtable was held on 16 September 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was hosted jointly by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMBT) and the Istanbul Stock Exchange. During the Conference and Roundtable, representatives from the capital market regulatory authorities of OIC member states came together to explore the potential avenues for increasing their cooperation and establish the COMCEC Capital Market Regulators Forum. The First Meeting of the COMCEC Capital Market Regulators Forum was convened on 26-27 September 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey, under the hospitality of the CMBT.

The Forum is chaired by the CMBT and comprised of four task forces, namely the Task Forces for Market Development, Capacity Building, Islamic Finance, and Financial Literacy.

The establishment of the COMCEC Capital Market Regulators Forum is an important milestone and a landmark initiative towards strengthening the cooperation among the capital market regulatory authorities of the OIC member states.
